Spectacular Knowledge written in a simple way

This book really help me to understand the subject, it covers both fundamental and technical analysis and gives insights from some of the best traders in the worlds, and how to apply them. The accounts of trades that he made helped me to understand how to trade. This book is like 10 of the best trading and investment books rolled into one. I felt I gained years of experience and insights from reading it. I have no doubt it will help me to succeed. Way better than all of the other books that I have read and its a cracking read too.

Excellent and Insightful!

Brill book, a real page-turner that I had finished in just a few days. Meant to just read a bit when I first started, then couldn't put it down, it's so interesting. Couldn't ask for more from a book. It was informative, well written and enjoyable. Loved it from start to finish!

The author details plenty of hard knocks that he took in the market whilst learning to trade and the accounts he gives of the trades contain very valuable lessons that I learned a great deal from. The key learning points are summed up at the end of each chapter, in a lessons learned section. I gained so much from this book that will help me make money, I wish I'd have read it years ago.

Having read many book on trading and the stock market over the past 20 years as a professional trader this book pulls together many of the best methods that are used by successful traders and details how to use them. Not only are the methods spelt out clearly but they are also backed up with examples of how the world's best traders have used them and how Smith has used them during his 25 year trading journey.

An excellent and highly readable book filled with trading techniques that are battle tested and useable in today's market.

About the Author
Robert van den Nieuwendijk Robert van den Nieuwendijk is an IT veteran from the Netherlands with over thirty years of experience in Information Technology. He holds a bachelor degree in software engineering. After working a few years as a programmer of air traffic control and vessel traffic management systems, he started his own company Van den Nieuwendijk Informatica in 1988. Since then he has worked as a freelance systems administrator of OpenVMS, Windows Server, Linux, and VMware vSphere systems, for Dutch governmental organizations and cloud providers. During winter he is also a ski and snowboard instructor at an indoor ski school. With his background as a programmer, he always tries to make his job easier by writing programs or scripts to perform repeating tasks. In the past, he used the C programming language, OpenVMS DCL, Visual Basic Script and KiXtart to do this. Now, he uses Microsoft PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI for all of his scripting work. If you are new to PowerCLI and you have no idea how to start learning it, a technical book for beginners such as this one will be very welcome.
I remember that when I started looking into PowerCLI, I devoured articles on the internet and books such as this one. The combination of both resources thaught me the basics I still use and welcome every day.
What this book does not do is teach you litterally everything about PowerCLI and how to use it. However it will get you started on PowerCLI using clear examples and exersizes. What better way than learning a new skillset than by actually putting it to use?

Me ense�� que como madre, NO estoy sola en el mundo y m�s a�n, que mi hijo var�n es normal, no es un extraterrestre!! El estilo �nico del Dr. Dobson hace entretenida la lectura y me gusta mucho como su base totalmente cristiana se adapta a la realidad de nuestros tiempos. El demuestra como s� se pueden criar varones con valores cristianos y a la misma vez vivir en nuestra sociedad actual. Recomiendo mucho este libro pues ensena verdades necesarias para el buen criar de los varones. La sociedad ha experimentado mucho con la mente de las personas. Ahora es mas normal la familia difuncional donde siempre hay la ausencia del padre y a veces la madre. Las mujeres piensan que la figura paterna no es importante, expecialmente las feministas, pero no es asi. Ademas de este libro tambien recomiendo "Atrevete a Disciplinar". Desde los 80's el mundo ha cambiado mucho y muchas veces negativamente en cuanto la visualizacion que tenemos de lo que es ser padres. Quien dijo que no hay que estudiar para ser padre?? Yo creo que hay que dar mas a nuestro hijos de lo que recibimos como tales. Es uno de los mejores libros y de verdad que funciona pues usa bases biblicas....y las ensenanzas de Dios no fallan!!

Street gangs are a major concern for residents in many inner-city communities. However, gangs’ secretive and, at times, delinquent tendencies limit most people’s exposure to the realities of gang life. Based on eighteen months of qualitative research on the streets of Indianapolis, Real Gangstas provides a unique and intimate look at the lives of street gang members as they negotiate a dangerous peer environment in a major midwestern city.

Timothy R. Lauger interviewed and observed a mix of fifty-five gang members, former gang members, and non-gang street offenders. He spent much of his fieldwork time in the company of a particular gang, the “Down for Whatever Boyz,” who allowed him to watch and record many of their day-to-day activities and conversations. Through this extensive research, Lauger is able to understand and explain the reasons for gang membership, including a chaotic family life, poverty, and the need for violent self-assertion in order to foster the creation of a personal identity.

Although the book exposes many troubling aspects of gang life, it is not a simple descriptive or a sensationalistic account of urban despair and violence. Steeped in the tradition of analytical ethnography, the study develops a central theoretical argument: combinations of street gangs within cities shape individual gang member behavior within those urban settings. Within Indianapolis, members of rival gangs interact on a routine basis within an ambiguous and unstable environment. Participants believe that many of their contemporaries claiming gang affiliations are not actually “real” gang members, but instead are imposters who gain access to the advantages of gang membership through fraud and pretense. Consequently, the ability to discern “real” gang members—or to present oneself successfully as a real gang member—is a critical part of gangland Indianapolis.

Real Gangstas offers an objective and fair characterization of active gang members,� successfully balancing the seemingly conflicting idea that they generally seem like normal teenagers, yet are abnormally concerned with—and too often involved in—violence. Lauger takes readers to the edge of an actual gang conflict, providing a rare and up-close look at the troubling processes that facilitate hostility and violence.

Fantastic Book with an interesting premise.

Dr. Tim Lauger's "Real Gangstas" is a fantastic piece of work that heavily focuses on Violence and how it is used to obtain Legitimacy in the streets. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Gang literature due to its readability and many in-depth interviews with active gang members of a prominent street gang in Indianapolis. Overall, it is a great book, the thesis and material flow together seamlessly, it is also organized EXTREMELY well, providing you with a clear image of the premise of the book while never going off course. MUST HAVE!!!

I read this book and was bored by it. I like the fact that someone did go inside to a gang and research and observe their behaviors and write about it and that's my reason for the 3 stars, but if you're looking for an easy to read book about gangs like "Monster" by Sanyika Shakur (a.k.a. Monster Kody of ETG), then do not buy "Real Gangstas" as it is not an easy read. Lauger's is a criminal justice teacher (ph.d) and his book is written research style. Each chapter is basically laid out like a research paper (intro, methodology, conclusion, etc).

I'm not stupid - i attend Niagara University and am in the CRJ major/pre-law (senior yr). I do not know Dr. Lauger, but i did want to take his course on gangs - which i didn't due to my schedule...but after reading this book, i'm not so sure i even want to take his course now. The whole time reading it i was just waiting for him to GET TO THE POINT! It's very long and drawn out. I usually do not mind details - but there are details for the details.

I really did not care for this book and I have read many books about gangs (Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, MS-13, Surenos, La eMe, Nortenos, etc...i'm very well versed on this subject). One thing i did not care for is the gang he chose to research. They're based in Indianapolis - known as the DFW Boyz (a.k.a. Down For Whatever Boyz). They have no colors, no gang signs, and their graffiti is real simple style - in fact in the book they describe it as something a baby could do cuz it's so simple. It's not elaborate and fancy looking like say some SUR~13/MS~13/Florencia tags are. When I googled DFW Boyz to find more info on them, all i found were their rivals. Nothing i googled turned up DFW Boyz - they must be so small of a gang, that they're not even a blip on the map. At the end of the book, i know that they spoke of becoming more organized as they are more so a clique than a gang.

Don't let the name DFW fool you, cuz 'down for whatever' to me means they would be some hardcore gangstas, but these guys ain't hardcore like MS-13. To me, they are set trippers - they even have a few members in their clique that are Vice Lords and GD's...and apparently in this part of Indianapolis where the DFW Boyz are, 'set trippin' is okay, but in other parts of Indianapolis - like any other area or gang, 'set trippin' is not okay. I don't understand why someone would research a clique that is already disobeying a gang rule - 'no set trippin'. It makes me wonder about the credibility of the researcher and how much he really knows about gangs, cuz it would seem to me he'd know for the most part that there's no set trippin allowed. Furthermore, even though the DFW Boyz state through out the book how 'down' they are and how 'real' they are, to me they're posers. They're nothing more then wannabe's/set trippers. Their poem 'real n***a' by E-Weez means nothing to me, cuz it's written by someone who ain't 'real'.

They have maybe 2 members out of the whole clique that are maybe true bangers (and that would be the ones that are Vice Lord and GD) but still, both are set trippin, so how true is that? Their crimes are nothing major at all - ranges from graffiti taggin to drugs (sell/possession), maybe some jackin. (I'm not saying I wanna read about worse crimes but if you're calling yourself 'down for whatever' and you're not for real or hardcore, you should change your name - how bout 'down for nothing'?)

If you're interested in what could cause gangs/cliques to pop up in your area and why they form/why ppl join gangs - then read the book, b/c it goes into more of the 'why' they happen and 'what' causes them. If you're looking for a more palatable book to read and you don't want to feel like you are reading a textbook, steer clear of this book.

Become the belly dance teacher you long to be...

Katayoun is an awesome instructor and performer and I am happy she decided to share her teaching methods. I wish this book had been available when I started teaching a couple years ago. The workshops I took to help me become a belly dance teacher didn't focus on the skills I needed to help me create lesson plans, correct students, and help them build skills to progress in multilevel classes. I was alone in the woods until I found this wonderful well organized book. Katayoun outlines a complete curriculum to address skills, music and culture, and performance artistry. The book covers: Movement Vocabulary, Thematic Units & Lesson Plans, Build-Up Method of Creating Combinations, Layering Methods of Teaching, Class Structure, Sequence & Pace, Rubrics of Skills & Standards, and Teaching Tips. Her writing style is clear and makes you feel as if she is there supporting you. It is a gem that belongs in every belly dance teacher's library.

Amazing book for teachers

I love this book. It had been a wonderful guide to freshen up my classes and give more structure. I highly recommend it to seasoned teachers to help with classes and a definite must for new teachers. I can't say enough about it and it's author. Her classes and workshops are amazing and her teaching shines through this book.

Read the fine print on the cover

This gets a three star rating in my opinion because the large "How To" right at the top is very misleading - there is little or no "how to" advice in this book, including on the title subject of a novella in 24 hours. Instead, there are short and very light essays on things like the experience of writing said novella; the experience, not the process. "Writing a Novella in 24 Hours" would have been a better title, because the "how" is decidedly lacking.

That said, the book was a quick and pleasant read on my commute home, and if the author fails to dispense anything beyond some very basic common sense advice then the little anecdotes were still fun to read. So, three stars - don't expect any actual advice, but do read if you enjoy short tidbits of a writer talking about their writing experiences.

Ever wish there was a pill you could take or perhaps a fruit or vegetable you could eat that would end writer's block? Well no need, This guide by Andrew Mayne was all the inspiration I needed to fight through my procrastination and get started writing again. This guide provides excellent tips to find ways around the endless excuses we use to get going and stick through it until the end. I actually found that much of the advice Mayne provides will help me in other future creative projects (not just writing).

Fantastic, I wouldn't expect any less from Andrew Mayne. I first discovered his unique genius during my Magic career, and have always enjoyed his outside the box style of thinking. In this novella on how to write a novella he boils down sime great tips on creativity into simple to follow instructions without anything unnecessary. He has given me some ideas and inspiration to tackle some Web of my iwn stalled out projects.
