About the Author
Steven Ruth retired from the CIA after 20 years of honorable service. He began his career as a Logistics Officer/Manager and half-way through his career was chosen to become a Support Officer/Manager. He has visited or worked in over thirty countries to include four war zones - Gulf War I (Persian Gulf War), Central America, Bosnia and Gulf War II.

Great inside look at the Agency's politics and life as an Officer

There have been many great books written on the CIA that ended with events sometime in the 70's or 80's. Inside the CIA (Kessler), Spycraft (Wallace, Melton) to name a few. This one covers life through 9/11 and beyond. I was an airline pilot during 9/11 (still am) and it is always interesting to hear about others' stories about the day/event. This book will intrigue anyone interested in seeking employment with the CIA. It paints a true picture; no glamour and not always pleasant. To the author: thanks for the great book and sharing your story!

Just. Not. Good.

Look, I feel bad writing this. I feel bad because the author seems like a genuine good guy. So am I. But you don't want me flying your 747 to Hawaii - and you don't want this author writing your book of the night. I'm sorry, I'm sure he was a solid, perhaps excellent employee of our spy service. That doesn't qualify him as an author any more than my five hours on Flight Simulator qualifies me as a pilot. At least flight sim is related to flying. Running logistics in the CIA doesn't have anything to do with writing a book.
From the really poor writing style (dry would be kind) to a simply boring story to terrible, terrible editing, this is just not a good book for anyone. I take that back - if you are in supply and don't read much (or well), you might find something to like here. I borrowed it for my Kindle from Amazon and I just couldn't finish it. My time is worth more.
Like I said, I apologize to the author. I just can't recommend this book to anyone. Ever.

A Most Enjoyable Read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very enlightening and educational.
There was not a boring moment and it was fun learning about the inner workings of the CIA.
